Selection of HGV Insurance Packages
HGV (Heavy Goods Vehicle) Insurance deals in providing cover for damages caused to the vehicle at the time of an accident. Today, many people have their own fleet of HGV’s or personally own one for commercial use. So there is a need to get insurance cover for these vehicles. The two basic things are: firstly, the extent of insurance one requires and secondly, which insurance plan to go for.
Before signing an insurance deal one must analyse a few things. Whether the place of delivery of goods is a hazardous location such as a chemical plant or a demolition site. Moreover do the drivers employed have any previous driving convictions.
Many of the big HGV Insurance companies are providing numerous features with the smallest price quoted. There are packages available such as truck insurance, owner-driver insurance, small fleet insurance and carriage of goods for hire. Every company has some basic features and benefits that it provides to its customers: competitive premiums, low cost installments, exclusive insurance schemes etc.
HGV’s covered by these companies range from 7.5 tons to 44 tons. And insurance plans are valid for drivers aged between 25 – 65 years and who have at least 12 months of driving experience.

Trying to Obtain Courier Insurance
I was told that being on the road all the time meant I was at a greater risk in the eyes of insurance companies. Hence, people like me, the courier van runners, could only avail insurances with sky-high premiums. This was not the case, I found out, after some enquires. In contrast to all the experience that we had, we were better off in the books of the insurers. Although, they never made me feel so.
I tracked online quotation units; they put me through an underwriter who gave me great insights into saving money on premiums. I was new to this business, and I had a no-claims bonus saved on my private car. But all this seemed far-fetched when I approached the courier insurance companies.
I am a carpenter and need a courier van for my job, a small one, and thus I bought a white van; a Ford Transit light panel van. I thought the color could be helpful for advertising my business on the side of the van.
But I have found out that the “white van man” is a dubious distinction to have. It refers to all the speedy and reckless drivers who are prone to accidents in their white vans. Perhaps this led the insurers to look at me with with slight disdain.

Van or Car?
Most of the people who use cars usually think that having a van seems awkward or van is a commercial vehicle and other such stuff. Speaking frankly, I also used to consider vans a commercial vehicle, but I was wrong. I think a van is the most comfortable and unique type of car. It can give you more space and more comfort as compare to any other vehicle. So, if it is comfortable for your family, then it is the best.
However, I admit one drawback of it and that is its maintenance. Because of its huge size it requires more care as compare to other vehicles. I suggest that do not take on any extra burden and just go for van insurance, because it is better for the well being of your car. If you are worried about the cost of buying insurance then you should think about the cost of your van and the risk that it faces whenever you drive on a road.
Moreover, you can also find a very affordable insurance plan if you really look around for it. For this, you can simply hop online and to go on insurance sites to compare the quotes available there. Van insurance can be expensive for you but after all, it’s worth it to protect you and your vehicle.

Taxi Drivers
They’re on the road just as much as a car, van or motorcycle (if not more) and so of course they need motor insurance too. Here we’re talking about taxi cabs, and the very specific kind of insurance which they require.
Each and every day taxi drivers face a multitude of situations, which normal drivers don’t usually face. Other people who drive for a living might include lorry drivers (who are mostly located on the motorway), and to be driving in and around rush hour traffic every single day means that a premium insurance policy is needed, and one that’s designed for normal drivers just doesn’t cut the mustard.
One thing is for sure, you will certainly need the best type of taxi insurance in place and verified before starting up a taxi business, as something that might happen 2 years in could just as well happen on the very first day. As with the job, there’s no knowing who will climb into the back of the vehicle next, where they’ll want to go and who the driver will be sharing the road with, so speaking one on one with a taxi insurance company before agreeing on a policy and price is paramount. Once that important and somewhat tedious process is over with the company is left to do what they do best: taxi-ing!

Satellite Navigation Mishaps
Well the Sat Nav Disaster has just had another victim. I was due to be at the chancellor’s function this afternoon. I had already made all kinds of necessary arrangements, as this could well mean a day of high importance in my small political career – and then what happens; almost like a unfailing ritual, the Satellite Navigation system makes me lose my way. I write this to all of you in sheer frustration sitting 122 miles to the south of where I should have been. Bye bye dreams, bye bye Leicester!
I can imagine how courier drivers get so frustrated at simple things like modern technology (apparently designed to make our lives easier) end up making things more difficult for them.
Courier vans are fraught with uncertainties, or so I have found out (at my expense) many times. This time the cost was even greater, another courier insurance claim; it involved my son. The Sat Nav Disaster that we so often fear in our hearts happened to him. The satellite navigation system failed – yet again. My son was due for an art exhibition in Northampton and the Sat Nav sent him some 112 miles to the west to a tiny hamlet. This also reminds me of a freak Sat Nav incidence in the past, when the box stuck to my dashboard sent us astray.

Are you fond of owning and collecting cars?
Are you fond of owning and collecting cars? Then if you are, you must have car fleet insurance! This type of insurance allows you to cover four cars or more under one policy. It actually has tons of benefits, including hassle-free policies, which are not really common if you would have separate insurance for each car. More often than not, companies that have lots of cars that they may use for business travel purposes use fleet insurance.
But why get fleet insurance? One of the main advantages of this type of insurance is that it would eliminate you the stress as well as the worries that you have whilst running your vehicles.
For example, if there are at least four or five company cars that are being used for business purposes, this simply means that each car must have insurance. You’ll never know when a problem will arise. Most of the common vehicle problems include car breakdown, natural disasters causing you to lose you car, and damages from reckless drivers.
If you want to overcome such vehicle problems without losing your hair, fleet insurance is perfect for you. All you need to do is to understand the policies of a single insurance that would cover your cars, all at the same time.

Insurance Fixes Damage not Life
HGV Insurance covers HGV’s (Heavy Goods Vehicle) against any case of damage in an accident. However after claiming insurance, the damages may be fixed, but still the biggest issue of concern is life. There has been a constant rise in the number of road accidents. The reasons vary from technical faults to human error. Like the case of White Van Man Accidents and SatNav Disasters. Considering the truthfulness of the quote “Prevention is better than Cure”, major steps are required to be taken.
White Van Man is a pejorative term used for the drivers of HGV’s who are aggressive, have poor road manners and generally drive very fast. They are often seen taking turns without giving any signals, or overtaking another vehicle involving high risks.
A SatNav system is a device that gives the driver directions while driving to reach his destination. People often end up only finding trouble after they blindly follow their SatNav system device. Like the case of a bus ending up down a narrow lane and across three fields after the driver blindly followed the device – even after being warned by several locals. To prevent such incidents, drivers should use their common sense as well as follow signs while using such devices.
